I feel as if we're the only ones that care. You know? Us, the admins, the ones that have been here and actually posted in the year 2006.
Anyone who has posted in 2006 will be deemed an administrator.
Anyone who hasn't...
Too bad.
For all the new administrators: Congrats!
For all the old administrators that are still around: Thanks!
You are the future of this board.
Let's see what we can do, together.
Because we care.

If anyone has any good ideas for any of the following, please let me know: 1. Topics for Discussion on the Board (e.g. things to draw more activity to the board, both from old and new users) 2. Ideas for Promotion of the Board (e.g. things we can do to get other people reading the board) 3. Ideas for Where We Should Take the Board (e.g. where do you see fos4us in two years) I'm interested in hearing your ideas. And for those of you who are wondering, I still have my www.fos4us.tk patch on my backpack, and I still wear it everywhere I can (even to work every day). It's drawn a few looks, a few questions, so it works. For those of you still in High School, try the patch idea. Try handing out flyers. Try taping signs in the restrooms. (This doesn't mean drawing on the walls, this means photocopying flyers with tear-off web-addresses at the bottom, so people can take home a URL.) Promotion isn't hard. Let's see some action!

I think that once we get people onto the board they will probably create topics and discuss whatever they like. I haven't been here very long, but I'd like to help you promote. And since I still go to high school (sort of) and have a printer I could do the fliers in the bathrooms and probably in the media rooms too. As for more promotion ideas, the only thing I can think of is Myspace or Xanga. It would be a good way of getting the word out to people, but then again it might attract people you don't really want.
To encourage people to join you could set up a free gift with registration. Dunno what the gift would be or how you would get it to them, but it seems to work for department stores.

Some good ideas!
Personally, I'd be scared of the people that would join from MySpace. We'd have to search outside our general friend area, due to the fact that the only people we know are people I don't really care to know.
As for free gifts... That's tough. I might could think of something...
Maybe if I handed out free email forewards?
yournamehere@fos4us.tk?
It might be doable.

Yeah?
I'm checking out myspace to see if I can send a message or bulliten only to people in the school group of Colleyville Heritage High School. I'll let you know how that goes.

I love the idea of handing out free gifts, but like Chris said, it could get tough. As for the idea of email accounts at fos4us.tk, I love the idea. Totally doable.

Great! Also try posting in philosophical / debate / intelligent groups.
I would like to see a wide variety of intelligent people on this board.
I would not like to see a bunch of drug-crazed idiots asking for connections.
(If anyone tries to get drugs from anyone on this board, and I find out about it, I will not hesitate to report that person to the authorities. SO TO EVERYONE WHO IS GOING TO USE THIS BOARD AS A DRUG RING, YOU HAD BETTER NOT LET ME CATCH YOU.)

I'll try to cross promote on other sites. I can maybe get a couple people to register. Ill also see what I can do on my yahoo group.
Also at BSM we have held promotions to entice people. Its a lot easier giving things out with a band site but you could probably think of something. My best promo was the 12 day of christmas one.

I have a patch on my bag!!!...i dunno if the britts will be too very interested though...I think that part of the problem is that this forum has a tendency to be kinda mean/indifferent to newcomers...everyone here basically knows everyone, therefore, we talk to the people we know...and then we can get kinda mean about debates. we have gotten so used to the dynamic of the remaining people that sometimes we tend to not play nice with people who have a different view... that, and the topics dont seem to stand out and grab attention...we should have a sex topic or some crazy thing like that...
so basically, all of the remaining members are admins? do ya think that will be intimidating to new people? i dunno im just throwing ideas out there.

Well, there are a large number of members that are NOT admins. For example, everybody but the people who posted recently. That, and a few admins who I demoted because they weren't around. (Now they're around, and probably wishing they'd never left.) I think that a good place to start for interesting topics of discussion would be the BBC website. Full of information that affects the entire world, and well-written to boot.
